The Scene and The Herd

The Scene and The Herd

Eyes open to receive
A burst of perception
A branch thought broken off
A vision or a hunch

Ears set to perceive
The sound I thought I heard
Animal, horn or word

Vision indicates discernible details
Well within my scope

Hearing informs the brain
Of the unseen realm
Sounds betray rafts of information

You can’t see the wind
You can’t see the speed of light
But you can hear the wind moving
Through the tall reeds and
You can hear a sonic boom
If we listen to each other and
Everything else
We can see the hidden elements
We hear

If we look close enough
We can hear the silent elements
We see

Funneling it all through
The scope of the brain

We receive what we perceive
Senseless or not
Reality is illusory

Segmented understandings
Sifting through the sand

It all goes in one ear
Through one eye and
Out through the mouth
Over the tongue

Reflecting On A Sunbeam

Reflecting On A Sunbeam
by Sam Flot

With resilience glinting
Off the reflection of a sunbeam
I sit breathing calmly
Beneath the canopy of the trees of the forest
Above the layered floor’s florid foundation

The sunbeam moves
As the sun changes it’s aim
Fully concentrating on several bay leaf tree leaves
Keeping the large trees
Out of it’s energetic space
Leaving little kinetic traces
On the path less traveled
On rocky roads
Of gravelly voiced opinions
From the recent veterans of the New Vanguard
Parading and consistently claiming
The significant age has come
For the long expected
Generational tectonic shift

Unearthing itself
To whisper like a saint in the ear
Of all the all too wiling youth of a nation
Re-generating and reincarnating

We are no longer stagnating
Still resilient in the beam of
The earth’s sun and the sky’s rain

Birds Make Machines by sam flot

Birds Make Machines
(A Flot Device)

Birds make machines
Descending from skies above earths
Industrialized by trivialized societies
So-called so-calleds
Unearthing the ground underground

Smooth and level
Distinctly in the never-ending plot’s story sign
Symbolizing the accents applied and added
Tastefully graceful
Dips in the valley
Drops on the mountain

Making a fountain of
Inspired outcomes
Perfectly baked cakes
Correctly laying the inlaid pearls of knowledge
Inside the clamshells of sandcastle time

Thrown into not-glass not-jar void or
Alternatingly
Glass jar no void

Not glass not jar void glass jar no void

Each room polarizing the optimal views
Of your standard void/no void conversation

The Text (and The Subtext) by flot

The Text (and The Subtext)

The text got caught
Glancing at the subtext
Feeling self referential and
Not the slightest bit deferred
The numbers colored the picture purple and
When a pair of paragraphs
Made a couple pie charts
The dessert was just and deserving
Of a polite payback or
Several fine flavors of favors
Everything delivered in a kitchen sink or
How could I be more succinct
Wrapping up the case and
The leftover taste
Complaints will be tossed away
Constraints only hold the fallow fields and
The rest will grow
Regardless of the storms and drains and
The worms in the gutters
The next trance is trancing
As the new next keeps dancing
All night
Halfway into the day
Self assured completely paid off
I can see the rhythm
From across the room
Escaping the speaker’s constraints
Charting off course
A bunch of tramps and ampersands
Traipsing across the sand
Trading relief for kindness
One deed at a time
Adding up to the kind
Of sign that symbolizes
A direction

A weather vane or
A guess of heads or tails

The coin is flipping through the air
Call it before it lands
The music plays either way
Major notes or minors

Whatever notes will get us through
Another moment
Another breath
Another song
Another gone and went

Send me a sign!
Please send me a sign!

Set Free From the Thicket

by Sam Flot 2012

Escalating up the luminescent levels
Singling in on the only takeaway
Out of all the left behind misfits
Tangled or set free from the thicket
Dropped in the sunshine
Ready to be the one that shines
Because how can you go through so much and
Not be ready to throw down
When the circle of the spotlight steers itself your way
Surrounding your very presence in the present
How can you let this moment pass?
How can the elements
Provide the perfect backdrop to your rebirth?
How can the earth smile?
How can the sky paint itself
To signify your importance
In the universal moment
We all raise our consciousness
To appealing new levels of interwoven purposes and
All paths leading to the same precipice
To the same understandings
Along the way and
How can this all come together
As we contain the same understanding and
Wisdom of the ages
Instantly knowledge is dropped
Like a million billion particles of dharma coconuts
Giving in to gravity
Dropping off the tree
Gracing us with it’s fruit and juice and
The bruise on the head is to remind us
We should never forget the wisdom we receive
When we give everything we have
Every single time

No questions asked
No answers given for free

The Discoverer Hovers

The Discoverer Hovers
by sam flot

Engrained in the chasing
Of the forward motion
Spacing out the benchmarks
Entrenched in escaping
The wind’s insistent brother
As the discoverer hovers
Over boundaries
Between states of consciousness
Hearing the walking box talking
Selling me stories
Told before the never seen
Altar of the selective collective
Operating on the basis of cooperating
Between essence and dynamics
Between the reactive and the proactive
Satiating your desire
To stoke your internal hard drive’s fire
Inside your core middle center
Matching the book
To the song
To the movie
Never been wrong
Since the last time

Carving A Pagoda

Carving A Pagoda

by flot

Please don’t interrupt me
I’m carving a pagoda
Looking out around the corners ahead of the curves
The sounds are influencing every move I make
Carving curves and lines
I‘m trying hard to concentrate
Making myself a house of worship
Devoting myself to extinguishing the warships
I’m taking a vow propagating peace
I’m carving this pagoda for weeks

I’m carving for days and years
I’m carving all the blood and sweat
I’m carving out the tears
I would stop and rest
But
I’m not finished yet
I’m carving a pagoda in dark and light
Through thick and thin and with all my might

Sunrise midday and when the sun sets

I’m carving a pagoda
But I’m not finished yet
