A Question For Authority
by

Back
in the day
All
hung up
On
a wall
In
the Museum of Futility
Compassion
was the catch phrase
Under
trees of shade or sunsets
Always
playing the game
Close
to the vest
Taking
and using every advantage
Hyper-hypocritical
In
staking off the high ground
Only
games of strategy
Are
played n a flat board
On
an even playing field
Nothing
like
Helping
out
By
reporting “suspicious activities” and
“unsafe
conditions”
Either
in public oratories or
In
one’s own home
I
have a question for authority
Where’d
ya get that hat?
Looks
great on you
Matches
your outfit
Really
works on you!
But
don’t you feel like hell?
It’s
been like the old days lately
You
been on quite a bender
Havin’
a good time
Lyin’
Cheatin’
Lootin’
Stealin’
Gutting
the constitution
Gutting
the rules which enforce
Checks
and balances
Gutting
the environment down to a stump
You’ll
be all apologies
When
the bender’s over
And
It
must be
Very
tiring
Very
exhausting
Still
I gotta ask one question
Where’d
ya get that hat?
